An Analysis of Iqbal's Biographies
Abstract
Books on Iqbal's life were written later and biographical articles on him began before biographical books about him, and the name of Sir Abdul Qadir is mentioned first in this regard. Sir Abdul Qadir, the editor of the archive, wrote the first biographical article on Iqbal, which was published in the May 1902 issue of the Lucknow-based magazine "Khadang-e-Nazar". Later, Muhammad Din Fawq, Sir Zulfiqar Ali Khan and Maulvi Ahmad Din wrote articles on Iqbal's life during Iqbal's lifetime. But no one wrote a biographical book on Iqbal during his lifetime, although this task would have been relatively easy at that time. One reason for this was that Iqbal never encouraged the writing of his biography and said that there were no incidents in his life that would interest anyone or anyone could learn anything from them. However, Javed Iqbal has definitely written in his father's biography "Zindah Rood" that Iqbal wanted to describe the gradual evolution of his thoughts and philosophy, but he did not get the opportunity to do so.
